General Description
The module converts 4 inputs channels (ch) of 10Gb/s electrical data to 4 CWDM optical signals, and multiplexes them into a single channel for 40Gb/s optical transmission. Reversely, on the receiver side, the module optically de-multiplexes a 40Gb/s input into 4 CWDM channels signals, and converts them to 4 channel output electrical data.
The central wavelengths of the 4 CWDM channels are 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm as members of the CWDM wavelength grid defined in ITU-T G694.2. It contains a duplex LC connector for the optical interface and a 38-pin connector for the electrical interface. To minimize the optical dispersion in the long-haul system, single-mode fiber (SMF) has to be applied in this module.

1. Question: What are the differences between MTP/MPO interface and LC interface 40G QSFP+ transceivers?
Answer: On one hand, the HTFuture 40G QSFP+ transceivers with LC interface are used for long-distance transmission over single mode fiber, and those with MTP/MPO interface are utilized for short distance transmission over multimode fiber. On the other hand, for the HTFuture 40G QSFP+ transceivers with LC interface, they cannot be split into 4x10G as they use 4 wavelengths on a pair of single-mode fibers and do not lend themselves to “splitting” into 4 pairs without substantial complexity to split out the wavelengths. For the HTFuture 40G QSFP+ transceivers with MTP/MPO interface, they can be used in 4x10G connectivity via an external 12-fiber parallel to 2-fiber duplex breakout cable, which connects the 40G transceiver to four 10G optical interfaces.
2. Question: Can the 40G QSFP+ LR4 transceivers direclty work with 10G LR transceivers for 4x10G connectivity?
Answer: No, the 40G QSFP+ LR4 Transceivers cannot work with 10G LR transceivers directly because the 40G QSFP+ LR4 Transceivers uses LC connectors instead of MTP/MPO connectors. If you need transceivers to have 4x10G connectivity, the QSFP-PLR4-40G Transceivers are highly recommended.
3. Question: What cable type is needed for the 40G LR4 transceivers?
Answer: The HTFuture 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ transceivers use duplex single mode fiber patch cables with LC/UPC connectors.
