General Description

The optical output can be disabled by a TTL logic high-level input of Tx Disable, and the system also can disable the module via I2C. Tx Fault is provided to indicate that degradation of the laser. Loss of signal (LOS) output is provided to indicate the loss of an input optical signal of receiver or the link status with partner. The system can also get the LOS (or Link)/Disable/Fault information via I2C register access.


What is a CWDM4 optical module? What is the difference between it and the PSM4 optical module?

The transmission rate of the CWDM4 optical module is 103.1 Gbp, which is mainly used in computing, high-frequency transactions, etc., and its cost is significantly higher than that of the QSFP28 PSM4 optical module.

(1) Light emitter: PSM4 requires four integrated silicon photonic modulators and one distributed feedback laser. CWDM4 requires four CWDM direct modulation lasers.
(2) Connector: PSM4 requires MPO connector (with 8 fibers), CWDM4 requires duplex LC connector
(3) Fiber: PSM4 is a ribbon SMF (8 core), CWDM4 is a duplex SMF
(4) Transmission distance: PSM4 is 500 meters, CWDM4 is 2000 meters
(5) Four-wavelength CWDM multiplexer: PSM4 is not required, CWDM4 is required
