Industrial grade optical module refers to the optical module that can be used in industrial environment with severe high temperature difference (operating temperature from -40℃ to 85℃). It has the advantages of RGD function, strong durability and adaptability.
Types of industrial grade optical module
According to different packaging types, the industrial grade optical module can be divided into industrial grade SFP, industrial grade SFP+, industrial grade GBIC, industrial grade XFP, industrial grade XENAPK, industrial grade X2, industrial grade CWDM optical module, industrial grade DWDM optical module, industrial grade SFP28 and industrial grade QSFP28.
According to different types of optical fiber, it can be divided into single-mode industrial optical module and multi-mode industrial optical module.
Applications of industrial grade optical module
Industrial-grade optical modules are generally used in combination with industrial-grade Ethernet switches for industrial and factory automation, railway and intelligent transportation systems (ITS), power facility substations, Marine, oil and gas, mining and other industries in industrial Ethernet networks.
The difference between industrial and commercial optical modules
According to the operating temperature of the optical module, the optical modules can be divided into industrial modules and commercial optical modules. The operating temperature of the industrial optical module is from -40℃ to 85℃, while that of the commercial optical module is from 0℃ to 70℃. In addition to the different operating temperatures, the two have the following differences:
The two application environments are different; Commercial grade optical modules are generally used in enterprise networks, data centers, computer rooms and other network environments, while industrial grade optical modules are generally used in harsh environments with large temperature difference, such as tunnels and remote mountainous areas.
The two test methods are different; Commercial optical modules only need to undergo normal temperature aging test, while industrial optical modules need high and low temperature aging test.
In addition, as the industrial optical module works in a high and low temperature environment, the industrial optical module needs temperature compensation, while the commercial optical module does not.
