SC-SC optical fiber patch cord is used as termination jumper from equipment to optical fiber cabling link. With thick protective layer, SC-SC optical fiber jumper is generally used for the connection between optical transceiver and terminal box. SC-SC optical fiber jumper is mainly divided into two categories:
Single mode fiber: generally, SC-SC single-mode optical fiber jumper is yellow, and the connector and protective sleeve are blue; the transmission distance is long.
Multimode fiber: generally, SC-SC multimode fiber jumper is indicated by orange, some are represented by gray, and the connector and protective sleeve are in beige or black; the transmission distance is relatively short.

Precautions for using SC-SC optical fiber jumper:
The receiving and sending wavelengths of optical modules at both ends of SC-SC optical fiber jumper must be consistent, that is to say, both ends of optical fiber must be optical modules with the same wavelength. The simple way to distinguish them is to have the same color of optical modules. In general, the short wave module uses multi-mode fiber (orange fiber), and the long wave module uses single-mode fiber (yellow fiber) for data transmission accuracy.
Do not bend and wrap the ring too much in use, which will increase the attenuation of light in the transmission process.
After use, the optical fiber connector must be protected with protective sleeve. Dust and oil pollution will damage the coupling of optical fiber.
Several different types of fiber jumpers:
1. FC-FC fiber jumper: FC (Ferrule connector, meaning metal connector) optical fiber connector is usually circular metal sleeve, and its fastening mode is threaded type, which is mainly used on distribution frame. The first type of FC connector, the butt end of ceramic pin was plane contact. The connector is simple in structure, easy to operate and easy to make. However, the fiber end is sensitive to dust, and it is easy to produce Fresnel reflection, which makes it difficult to improve the performance of echo loss. Later, the connector was improved. The connector was usually round and threaded with a spherical pin on the butt end. The external structure did not change, which made the insertion loss and echo loss performance improved greatly.
2. ST-ST fiber jumper: ST (straight trip) fiber connector is also circular. The structure size of pin and coupling sleeve is identical with FC type. The difference is that PC type or APC type grinding is used for the end face of the pin. Moreover, the fastening method is screw buckle. This kind of connector is suitable for various optical fiber networks, easy to operate and has good interchangeability.
3. LC-LC optical fiber jumper: LC optical fiber connector is a new type of connector developed by famous bell company in order to meet the requirements of customers for miniaturization and high-density connection. It is made of modular jack (RJ) latch mechanism which is easy to operate. LC type optical fiber connector reduces the space needed by the panel, wallboard and distribution box in the whole network, making it occupy half of the space of traditional ST and SC connectors. At present, in the aspect of single-mode SFF (small package), LC type connector has actually occupied the dominant position, and the application of multimode is also growing rapidly.
4. SC-SC optical fiber jumper: the shell of SC optical fiber connector is square, and the structural size of the pin and coupling sleeve used are exactly the same as that of FC type, in which the end face of the pin is mostly PC type or APC type grinding method; the fastening method is plug-in latch type, without rotation. Figure 5 shows a SC-SC fiber jumper with SC connectors at both ends.
