1、Question:Should I use CAT6a or SFP+ to connect my office to my server room?
Answer:
SFP+ is just a small form factor transceiver module for network gear so you can get SFP+ transceiver for copper (cat6a) or fiber optic. The cost of labor can sometimes make it worth the upgrade to fiber optic cable and the transceivers are fairly inexpensive. Fiber isn't affected by environmental issues like copper, so you can string it near electromagnetic gear like fluorescent light ballasts, transformers, etc. Fiber optic also does not pass electricity so the damage that a lightning strike can cause is isolated to just that side.
If money isn't an issue then I would look at using OM3 cabling and SFP-10G-SR modules on each side. That gets you 10Gbps speeds for up to 300 meters.
