Q1: How to select the wavelengths for DWDM transceivers to match single fiber DWDM Mux/Demux? 

A1: Single fiber Mux/Demux are always used in pairs. The transmit wavelength of the client port at side-A must match the receive wavelength of the same client port at side-B. As for the wavelength of the transceiver, it is mainly based on the transmit wavelength of the client port.


Q2: My project have a fiber optic run that is 150 miles and RFP states no repeaters. Need a DWDM and would like to know what I need to accomplish this distance.

A2: Thanks for your question, could you please help answer the following questions. 

(1) the link of your project is single or dual fiber? G.652 or G655?

(2) how many wavelength are you plan to transmit? Data rate is 1G or 10G?

(3) What loss for the 150miles at the 1550nm?

Q3: How to test and maintain the DWDM equipment?

A3: Simple to Test and Maintenance, Taking just several seconds, use Optical Power Meter to complete all loss or power measurements and easy to interpret test results with minimal navigation.

When it is not in use, please always capped with a clean dust cap, and always keep adapter ports and fiber connectors clean.


Q4: Why is the red and blue filter necessary when EDFA was added in DWDM single fiber link? 

A4: EDFA can only amplify unidirectional signals. In the case of single-fiber connection networks and EDFA is required, the wavelengths at two ends must be different. 

The transceivers at one end should be Red wavelengths, another end should be blue wavelengths, then Red and blue filter can split different waves. 

Furthermore, the amplifier can be used to magnify the links in different directions. And the red and blue filters are used in pairs, which play the role of isolating the red wavelength and blue wavelength.
