1. Wearing an anti-static wrist
In order to prevent static electricity from damaging the electronic components in the HTF SFP / SFP + / XFP module, in addition to taking anti-static measures at the installation site (such as indoor dust prevention, maintaining appropriate temperature and humidity), you must also pay attention to installing or removing the SFP / SFP + / XFP modules must wear antistatic wrists. Put an anti-static wrist on your wrist and tighten the lock to make sure that the anti-static wrist is in good contact with the skin.
● If the device has an anti-static wrist socket, insert the ground terminal of the anti-static wrist ground cable into the anti-static wrist socket on the device
● If there is no anti-static wrist socket on the device, clamp the ground terminal of the ground cable of the anti-static wrist to the frame of the rack, or take other measures to make the ground cable of the anti-static wrist well grounded.
The anti-static wrist is worn as shown in Figure 1.

If the user also has anti-static gloves, it is recommended to wear anti-static gloves before installing the SFP / SFP + / XFP module, and then put on an anti-static wrist, and confirm that the anti-static wrist is in good contact with the glove surface.
2. Install the SFP module
During the process of installing or removing the SFP module, please do not directly touch the gold finger part of the SFP module with your hands.
Lift the handle of the SFP module vertically upwards, hold the top buckle, pinch the sides of the SFP module with your hands, and gently push it into the SFP slot until the SFP module is in close contact with the slot (you can feel the springs on the top and bottom of the SFP module Jam the SFP slot), as shown in Figure 2.
If the SFP module is densely installed and space is limited, you can also use your fingers to gently push the front of the SFP module into the slot.

● Users are advised not to remove the protective rubber plug on the optical port of the SFP module before installing the optical fiber.
● It is recommended that users do not directly insert the SFP module with the optical fiber inserted into the slot. Please remove the optical fiber before installing.
3. Unplug the SFP module
First pull out the fiber, then pull the handle of the SFP module down to the horizontal position, and then pull out the SFP module. As shown in Figure 3:

4. Common errors during installation

Plugging and unplugging the SFP module without good grounding measures may cause the SFP module or the electronic components in the SFP slot to be penetrated by static electricity, which may damage the device.

Move the handle of the SFP module to the horizontal position to release the fixing relationship between the shrapnel and the SFP slot. If you pull the SFP module forcibly without pulling the handle, the shrapnel or the buckle in the slot may be damaged.
5. Special precautions for inserting and removing SFP + modules / cables
5.1 Insert SFP + module
Take the SFP + module as an example (here, the bottom of the module pull ring is down): Insert the module parallel to the slot. During the process of inserting the module, the shrapnel in the slot has a jacking force on the module. You need to press the SFP + module slightly towards the shrapnel to ensure that the insertion direction of the module is parallel to the slot.
Correct example: For the SFP + module installed, there should be a gap between the top edge of the module and the top of the slot during the insertion process (see the enlarged view marked with a √ in Figure 6); (Upward), there should be a gap between the lower edge of the module and the bottom of the slot during insertion.
Example of error: For a SFP + module that is being installed, there is no gap between the top edge of the module and the top of the slot during the insertion process (see the enlarged view marked with × in Figure 6).

5.2 Unplug the SFP + cable
The SFP + cable is designed with a hook, which cooperates with the card slot on the slot to form a card connection structure. When the SFP + cable slides out, the hook is blocked by the card slot to prevent the SFP + cable from accidentally coming out.

When unplugging the SFP + cable (taking the SFP + cable in the horizontal direction as an example), please hold the SFP + cable iron case in with your thumb first, and then pull the pull ring in a horizontal straight line outward to disengage the card connection structure. Unplug the cable horizontally.

In Figure 8, the left is the correct example: the pull ring and the cable pull-out force are along the horizontal straight line; the right is the wrong example: the pull ring pull-out force is at a small angle with the horizontal straight direction, which will make it difficult to pull out the cable and even damage the card structure.
