DAC (Direct Attach Cable) high-speed cable:

   a cable assembly with fixed length and fixed connectors at both ends, the interface cannot be replaced, and the modular connector and the copper cable cannot be separated.

The optical devices at both ends of the DAC high-speed cable seem to be the same as the optical module, but in fact it is not a real optical module, because it has no optical laser and no electronic components, and can only transmit electrical signals, not optical signals. Because of this, DAC high-speed cables are cheaper than optical modules, and can greatly save cost and power consumption in short-distance applications. It is a low-cost and high-efficiency communication solution.

Advantages of DAC high-speed cables:

①High performance: suitable for short-distance wiring in data centers, with a wide range of applications;

②Energy saving and environmental protection: The internal material of the high-speed cable is copper, and the natural heat dissipation effect of copper is good, saving energy;

③ Low power consumption: the power consumption of passive cables is 0, and the power consumption of active optical cables is usually 440mW;

④Low cost: The price of copper cable is lower than that of optical fiber.
