According to the transmission distance, 25G SFP28 optical module can be divided into SR optical module, LR optical module and ER optical module. 25G SFP28 SR optical module is generally equipped with OM4 multi-mode jumper for short-distance transmission, and the transmission distance is not more than 100 meters; 25G SFP28 LR and 25G SFP28 ER optical modules are generally equipped with OS2 single-mode jumper for long-distance transmission, the theoretical maximum transmission distance of SFP28 LR optical module is 10 kilometers, and the maximum transmission distance of SFP28 ER optical module is 40 kilometers. 25G SFP28 conventional optical module is mainly used for interconnection of servers, switches and routers in data center.

25G bidi SFP28 single fiber bidirectional optical module

25G bidi SFP28 single fiber bidirectional optical module uses WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) technology to transmit and receive different central wavelengths in two directions, so as to realize bidirectional transmission of optical signals in one fiber. Generally, the optical module has two ports: TX transmitting port and Rx receiving port, while the bidi optical module has only one port. It can transmit and receive the optical signal through the filter in the optical module. Therefore, bidi modules must be used in pairs. At present, there are 1270nm / 1330nm and 1330nm / 1270nm wavelength combinations to choose from. Bidi optical module has the advantages of saving 50% of optical fiber resources, equal distance between uplink and downlink, and effectively ensuring high-precision time synchronization. Its typical transmission distance is 10km, 15km and 20km.

25G WDM SFP28 color light module

The 25G WDM SFP28 color light module includes 25G CWDM SFP28 optical module, 25G DWDM SFP28 optical module and 25G LWDM SFP28 optical module.

The 25G CWDM SFP28 optical module is a single-mode duplex CWDM module, which works in the wavelength range of 1271 ~ 1331nm. It can be used for short distance data transmission in 25G Ethernet switches, routers, network interface cards (NIC) and storage network devices, and can solve the problem of 5G millimeter wave forward transmission at the current stage. At present, the 25G DWDM SFP28 optical module on the market can transmit 10km through single-mode optical fiber. It can not only increase bandwidth but also realize long-distance transmission. Compared with the previous two 25G color light modules, the 25G LWDM SFP28 optical module adopts high-performance and low-cost DML laser, and uses LAN-WDM optical wavelength to become an ideal solution for 5G forward transmission, which can meet a variety of application scenarios. The product can realize passive wavelength division multiplexing and reduce the consumption of optical fiber resources. It can transmit 30km without forward error correction function and 40km with forward error correction function.

Different brands of 25G SFP28 optical modules can communicate as long as they meet the industry standards. The SFP28 port can be interconnected with the QSFP28 port. Configure the 100G QSFP28 port on the device to the 4 * 25G mode (if supported), then insert the 100G module into the port, and connect the SFP28 optical module in the SFP28 port through a quarter cable.
