Composition of optical wavelength division multiplexing system:


1) optical multiplexer (MUX) : multiplexing multiple wavelengths into a single optical fiber for transmission.

2) optical power amplifier (BA) : it can compensate the loss of optical multiplexer and improve the fiber input power.


3) optical line amplifier (LA) : to compensate the loss of optical fiber.

4) optical preamplifier (PA) : improve the receiving level and receiver sensitivity.


5) optical dispersion compensator (DCM) : provides dispersion compensation for long-distance transmission.

6) DEMUX: use multiple wavelengths in each fiber to separate channels.


7) optical interface converter (OTU) : convert the conventional SDH optical signal into the signal suitable for DWDM transmission.

8) monitoring channel (OSC) : channel dedicated to transmitting monitoring system.
