Since 2013, the state has gradually introduced policies to guide the transfer of large and super-large data centers to the central and western regions and the surrounding areas of hot spots. In 2020, data centers and 5G will be included in the new infrastructure, which means that the collaborative development of data centers and networks has been raised to a higher position, and digital network collaboration will become the next station of data center development.
According to the Data Center Development Guidelines (2019) released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, by the end of 2018, the number of racks in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong accounted for about one-third of the country's total. Data centers in the central and western regions account for about 40% of the total number of racks in China. In terms of the erection rate, the overall average erection rate of domestic data centers is about 50%. The erection rate of the eastern coastal provinces and cities basically reached more than 60%, while that of the western provinces was only about 30%, the gap between the east and the west is still large. Half of the data centers are directly connected to backbone networks and one-third are connected to metropolitan networks. From the perspective of rack distribution and erection rate, under the existing network conditions, the coordination of digital network cannot support the layout optimization of national data centers, so it is urgent to be broken.
Promote the construction of regional network direct connection, dedicated data center network channel construction, directional network direct connection and local network direct connection points, so as to greatly improve the quality of the data centric network, and the data network collaboration will be able to better adapt to and support the development of upper-layer applications.
All the time, Institute of Cloud Computing and Big Data of China Academy of Information and Communication has been actively participating in ODCC network related work of open Data Center Committee, carrying out continuous research on data center network, and building an open network ecosystem. At the same time, the Institute of Cloud Computing and Big Data of China Academy of Information and Communication Technology also carries out research on intelligent nondestructive network project in IEEE, which promotes domestic research results to the international market. Good coordination of digital network will provide infrastructure guarantee to effectively support the development of upper layer applications. Digital network collaboration will become the next target of data center development.
