Composition and development of optical modules

Optical module is the core device of optical communication. In optical fiber communication, optical module mainly completes photoelectric conversion and electro-optic conversion. Generally speaking, it is to convert the transmitted electrical signal into optical signal, and then convert the optical signal into electrical signal through optical fiber for transmission.


The optical module can be divided into the receiving end and the transmitting end, wherein the transmitting end converts the electrical signal into the optical signal, which is composed of Tosa (optical transmitting sub module) and the corresponding driving circuit, and the core is laser; the receiving end converts the optical signal into the electrical signal, which is composed of Rosa (optical receiving sub module) and the amplifying circuit, and the core is photoelectric detector. The optical module industry chain is mainly composed of optical chip, optical device, optical module and optical equipment. The optical module is located at the back end of the industry chain, which mainly plays the role of design, integration, packaging and testing.


The upstream of optical module is optical chip and optical device, and the downstream is communication equipment manufacturer. The final products are applied to data center and telecommunication market.


Starting from the reality, domestic manufacturers have completed the whole industry chain replacement from chip to module for the optical modules with the speed below 10g. The module design ability and packaging technology are mature. Co construction and sharing will not reduce the number of optical modules. In the future, the approximate rate of optical modules will maintain a high prosperity.
