Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) refers to the optical fiber data transmission technology, this technology USES the laser Wavelength according to the parallel transmission of bits or string transmission mode in the optical fiber data.

DWDM optical module is an optical module for dense wavelength division multiplexing, which has 40 common channels to choose from.

DWDM optical module belongs to wavelength division multiplexing technology, which can couple the light of different wavelengths into a single core fiber and transmit them together. The channel intervals of DWDM optical modules are 0.4nm,0.8nm,1.6nm and other different intervals as required, which are small and require additional wavelength control devices.

A key advantage of the DWDM optical module is that its protocol and transmission speed are not related. Dwdm-based network can use IP protocol, ATM, SONET/SDH, Ethernet protocol to transmit data, and handle data traffic between 100Mb/s and 400Gb/s. Thus, dwdm-based networks can transmit different types of data traffic at different speeds over a laser channel. From the perspective of QoS (quality of service), dwdm-based networks can quickly respond to customers' bandwidth requirements and protocol changes in a low-cost way.
