Background
Our customers want to build fiber optic links that can handle up to 1 terabyte of data traffic between two stations 22 kilometers apart.
Challenge
Terabytes of high traffic data are transmitted over an optical fiber link between the two stations.
A line protection device shall be installed to prevent link failure from affecting data transmission.
A monitoring mechanism is required to monitor link operation status in real time and detect record and locate faults.
The total optical loss value of the current link is 10dB.
The solution
HTF 40CH DWDM MUX dense WDM multiplexer is installed at two sites respectively, which can realize bidirectional data transmission of up to 40 channels.
A 25G link has a higher capacity than a 10G link. Used in conjunction with 40CH DWDM MUX, it can simultaneously transmit up to 1000G of data streams.
Two optical link protection devices (OLP) are set up in the link to provide an alternate path in case of major packet loss or failure of the main link. Ensure the smooth operation of the network.
HTF 40CH DWDM MUX/DEMUX is equipped with a monitoring port that works like an optical splitter and USES a small number of business signals for monitoring without affecting data transmission.
The power amplifier works at the transmission end of the link and is used to amplify the input power of polymerized light to reach the extended signal range. OPA is placed before DEMUX and increases the optical power level of the DWDM channel prior to receiving the signal. The TDCM fiber dispersion compensator is placed in the 25G DWDM transmission system to compensate the dispersion. With these devices, a 3dB surplus can be reserved even if the link loss reaches 12dB.
Conclusion
This scheme helps customers build a 25G DWDM network with twin-fiber TB traffic transmission. Compared with 100G coherent DWDM network, this scheme can not only meet the long-distance high data traffic transmission, but also effectively control the cost.
