EDFA is one of the most important components in DWDM system. In the manufacture of EDFA, erbium ion is doped into the conventional quartz fiber as the base material. Because of the erbium ion doping, a 1550nm energy band is provided. The original signal and high power pump laser can improve the intensity of the optical signal, and the optical signal can be amplified without converting the optical signal into an electrical signal.
MUX / demux are two indispensable components in DWDM system. DWDM enables optical fiber networks to transmit signals of several wavelengths at the same time, while MUX is the component responsible for bringing together several wavelengths; demux is the element responsible for separating the wavelengths that are gathered together.
OADM is an important application component in DWDM system. Its function is to insert / remove multiple wavelength channels in an optical fiber transmission network, and place OADM at the node of the network to control the optical signals of different wavelength channels to appropriate positions.
OXC is the next generation optical communication routing switch, which is used for multi-channel data routing and line scheduling generated by DWDM. Its functions include network router and telecom switch. OXC is set up at the important junction point of the network to collect the input of different wavelengths from all parties, and then transmit the signals to the appropriate optical fiber at the appropriate wavelength. It can provide three switching functions: optical fiber switching, wavelength switching and wavelength conversion.
