The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued the "Gigabit City Construction Index System" to deploy gigabit broadband in more than 300 cities and carry out demonstration of gigabit broadband application. More cities will enjoy lower price gigabit broadband in the future, and the implementation has already started in Beijing.
Beijing's three major operators have taken steps to speed up broadband and lower fees, with customers using thousands of megabits of broadband at a new low price of 269 Yuan a month. Beijing Mobile disclosed that on the basis of the original price of 800 Yuan per month for gigabit broadband, the current citizens who consume 288 Yuan per month will be able to enjoy the Beijing Mobile's gigabit broadband for free for two years.
Beijing Mobile also gets two years of gigabit broadband for the 269 Yuan 5G premium package, which is only about 30% of the original 800 Yuan price. For comparison, the combined price of Beijing Telecom's 5G package plus gigabit broadband is 279 Yuan per month, while the price of Beijing Unicom's gigabit broadband is relatively high. It charges 399 Yuan per month for a gigabit broadband connection, and 299 Yuan for a 5G plan plus gigabit broadband connection.
