Although 5G speed is much faster than 4G, but 5G signal attenuation is difficult to go through the wall, indoor and outdoor "double heaven".
According to the report, reporters in several parts of Beijing have found that outdoor 5G signals are often found, while indoor signals are not as good as expected. Through a 5G mobile phone, the reporter found a 3-grid 5G signal in The North of Beijing Railway Station. When walking outside, the signal oscillates between two and four bars. But when the reporter walked into a random roadside store found that every five or six meters, the signal will drop 1 grid. The signal was originally displayed as 3 bars outside. Before the reporter entered the most inside of the store, 5G signal had completely disappeared and only 4G signals could be used.
Reporters then tested it in many parts of Beijing, where 5G signals almost disappear soon after entering a room or building.
According to one operator, the frequency of 5G can reach 4900MHz from 800MHz in the 1980s. The higher the electromagnetic wave frequency, the shorter the wavelength, the faster the attenuation, and the easier it is to be shielded by obstacles. This means that, with outdoor base stations alone, 5G can hardly complete the coverage of indoor signals.
It is reported that the CCTV building, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Daxing Airport and other areas that have achieved 5G signal coverage will be equipped with "standard" room sub-equipment, which is equivalent to 5G indoor micro-base stations and can relatively evenly distribute signals indoors. The number of equipment for 5G cell division in Beijing may be several times the number of large outdoor base stations in the future, according to officials with the Beijing Tower.
