In Shanghai, the gigabit fixed broadband has covered 9.6 million households, 99% of them, and the average available download rate of fixed broadband has reached 50.32M. A total of 31,400 outdoor base stations and 49,800 indoor stations have been built for 5G. Reporters learned from the 2020 "Double Gigabyte Broadband City" development Summit held in Shanghai on November 11 that Shanghai has achieved 5G continuous coverage in key areas in central and suburban areas, with an average download rate of over 300M and a download rate of over 800M in key areas. From the perspective of network infrastructure capacity, network coverage and user perception, Shanghai has taken the lead in building a "double gigabyte broadband city". At the meeting, Shanghai launched the "Double gigabit Broadband City" acceleration plan, saying that it will achieve the goal of "reaching a million gigabit users" within three years.
Liu Duo, President of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and Secretary-General of the Broadband Alliance, released the "Shanghai Dual Gigabit Broadband City Development White Paper" at the meeting, which gave Shanghai dual-gigabit broadband in terms of macro trends, network construction, and application empowerment. The development measures and results have been comprehensively sorted out, and the development trend of "dual gigabit broadband cities" has been put forward.
In addition, in order to further speed up the quality and speed of broadband network, popularize gigabit application, and comprehensively improve the quality and speed of 5G and fixed network, the acceleration plan of Shanghai "Double gigabit Broadband City" was launched. The plan puts forward four actions from the aspects of network construction and application empowerment, namely "5G High-quality network Construction Action", "gigabit network speed promotion action", "1000 lines 100 industries empowerment action" and "millions of families Internet speed support action". By the end of 2023, the average download rate of 5G networks in key areas of Shanghai will reach 1000M, the penetration rate of 5G users will reach 70%, and the number of gigabit users will reach millions. At the same time, 1000 double gigabit application projects will be promoted, forming the "Shanghai plan" of double gigabit network enabling thousands of industries.
