China's new-generation manned spacecraft test ship carried on board the long March 5B carrier rocket, which made its maiden flight on May 5, completing a test mission of "time-triggered Ethernet space borne prototype system," CCTV news reported.
Simply put, the "time-triggered Ethernet system" is a high-speed local area network (LAN) built by researchers on the spacecraft to connect all the systems so that astronauts can enjoy the same services as smart homes in the "space home" in the future. Only a controller can control all the home appliances, so as to form an intelligent spacecraft information system similar to the intelligent home.
It is learned that during the in-orbit flight of the new-generation manned spacecraft test ship, the "time-triggered Ethernet system" completed the verification of clock synchronization, multi-source data sampling, high-definition image transmission and other functions, and realized the high-speed transmission of data between the systems. This is the first time for China to carry out the space test of this technology, which indicates that China has the core technology capability in this field.
