SDN is not a specific technology, not a specific protocol, but an idea and framework. SDN in the narrow sense refers to "software defined network". The concept of SDN in the broad sense also extends to software defined security, software defined storage and so on. It can be said that SDN is a wave sweeping the whole IT industry.

The era of "big things moving to the cloud" has come. The traditional underlying network architecture can no longer meet human needs. The equipment is complex, the configuration is troublesome, the iteration is slow, and various problems emerge one after another. The next generation network needs programmable on-demand customization, centralized unified management, dynamic traffic supervision, automatic deployment, etc., which is the starting point of Sdn.

In the SDN era, the way our network engineers / network operation and maintenance / IT operation and maintenance personnel deploy the network needs to change from "manual code" configuration of "workshop" to "programming" deployment of the network by means of script language / programming language, so as to respond to business needs faster and better. Yes, the industrial chain is converging, it technology is converging, and software and hardware are converging. Change is flexible, and change is dead!
