What is the typical application of MTP-LC branch cord?
MTP-LC branch jumpers are used for port replication of blade switch board cards to facilitate the connection of these ports to other devices. Based on the specific application and what components are inserted, there are two types of branch jumpers, module branch jumpers and trunk branch jumpers.
Module branch jumpers connect directly to the back of the MTP-LC module and copy switch ports to panels located in the same or adjacent racks. Usually, when using this application, the switch is located in MDA or column head switch.
Generally speaking, in a 40g network, each 40g qsfp + optical module needs to be connected to four SFP + optical modules through four duplex LC connectors. Therefore, in order to make the 40g connection more simple and stable, the interfaces on the 40g MTP-LC fiber distribution frame are divided into 12 groups, each group has 4 duplex LC interfaces, which can realize 40g connection more easily.

The 40g optical module can support 4x10g optical signal transmission mode, so it can be compatible with the existing 10G Optical module. There are 12 MTP interfaces on the back panel of the 40gMTP-LC optical distribution frame, including 8 transmission interfaces and 4 duplex interfaces (4 transmitting and 4 transmitting). These interfaces are connected to the 40g optical module on the switch through MTP fiber jumper. For the connection of the front panel, we can select 1 group (4) LC interfaces from 12 groups (48) LC interfaces, and use LC duplex optical fiber jumper and AC interface The 10g SFP + optical module on the replacement machine is connected. Therefore, the 40g qsfp + optical module can be successfully connected with 10g SFP + through 40g MTP-LC optical distribution frame.
The 40g MTP-LC optical fiber distribution frame can connect 12 core 40g mtp-mtp trunk optical fiber jumper and 48 core 10g LC duplex optical fiber jumper. Therefore, a 1U high 40g MTP-LC optical fiber distribution frame can realize 480g data transmission. Most importantly, the 40g MTP-LC fiber distribution frame is presented as a cable management product, which can simplify the wiring process and provide higher cable capacity in limited rack space.
Precautions for splitting 40g to 10g ports
Generally, most of the brand switches in the market support port splitting. In some special cases, the port of switch cannot be split.
When splitting the 40g port into 4 * 10g ports, make sure that the port runs at 40Gbps by default, and other L2 / L3 functions are not enabled. Note that during this process, the port is still running at 40Gbps until the system restarts. Therefore, after using the CLI command to split the 40g port into 4 * 10g port, please restart the device to ensure that the command takes effect.
