MPO/MTP fiber optic patch cord is composed of MPO /MTP connector and optical cable, among which the MPO/MTP  connector is a kind of high-density multi-fiber connector. 

Compared with other connectors, MPO/MTP connectors are characterized by compact design and a large number of patch cords. The MPO connector has the same size as the SC connector, but can accommodate 12 or 24 optical fibers. Therefore, MPO can greatly save cabinet wiring space. The most common ones are 8, 12, and 24 core MPO patch cord, which can currently reach the 144 core requirements. 40G MPO-MPO fiber optic patch cords generally use 8- and 12-core MPO multimode ferrules, 100G MPO-MPO fiber patch cords generally use 24-core MPO ferrules.
