Q: The failure of the optical module causes the interruption of the entire MSAN service and all broadband and voice services.

A: The failure of the optical module means that the light receiving function is normal, but the light does not emit light or the light power is insufficient. When the opposite end is normally emitting light, the optical port displays online, and the optical port of the opposite switch displays down, which causes the entire frame to interrupt services. The optical port connected to the failed optical module can be closed on the opposite switch. At this time, the optical module on the IPMB cannot receive light, and the backplane gate is open and can receive light, the system will switch to the backplane. Note: The backplane optical port must be turned on; check the status of the optical port on the switch, and find that the status of the optical port of the switch is down and the opposite IPMB optical port is online. At this time, the IPMB optical port should be invalid and replace it in time.

Q: Abnormal connection of optical modules

Reasons : The reasons for this phenomenon are mismatch between optical modules and fiber jumpers, ports are shut down, transmit optical power is too low or too high, received optical power is too low or too high, and the optical modules connected at both ends do not match.

A: Run the display interface transceiver command to check whether the optical module has alarm information under "Alarm information"; run the display interface transceiver verbose command to check the diagnostic information of the optical module, and you can see the current transmitted and received optical power values, as well as the default The highest and lowest power values. If the display result is as follows, it can be solved like this

If the received power is low (RxPower Low): It may happen that the port is not up or the packets are discarded after being up. In this case, you need to check whether the transmission distance exceeds the normal range, and then check whether the optical module and fiber jumper are damaged.

If the received power is high (RxPower High): The possible cause is that the optical module is a long-distance optical module, and the actual transmission distance is too short, resulting in unattenuated signals. You can increase the optical attenuation on the optical module.

If the transmission power is low (TxPower Low): It means that the optical module is not sending a signal, causing the port not to be up or the message is discarded after being up. You can contact the corresponding supplier after-sales service.

If the transmit power is high (TxPower High): The possible cause is that the optical module at the local end is faulty, causing the optical module at the opposite end to burn out due to the continuous high receiving power. The optical module must be replaced.
