The selection of optical module needs comprehensive consideration, including working wavelength, o-band, c-band and dispersion tolerance. Single wave length, WDM wavelength; Working distance; Working environment, temperature, reliability; Single-mode fiber and multi-mode fiber; Fiber number, LC, MPO; Energy efficiency; Cost performance and other factors.

For the prequel application scenario, the 5G era will be upgraded to 25G eCPRI. The main interface types include: one is 25G tunable DWDM interface, which can cope with the situation of insufficient fiber and improve the utilization rate of fiber core. The second 25G BiDi interface, operating distance 10km/15km, is applied in CRAN optical fiber direct drive scene. Its 325g Duplex interface, operating at a range of 300m, USES FP/DFB lasers and is mainly used in DRAN scenes.

G698.4 / urban access WDM technology, applied to 5G pretransmission, can reduce the consumption of massive fiber resources, support point-to-point (star), chain and ring networking, mainly used in the remaining fiber core shortage, and the new cable is difficult or high cost scenarios, cost advantage is obvious.

It is hoped that the industry will speed up the standardization of the relevant, minimize the types of optical modules, reduce the complexity of network maintenance, aggregate applications and reduce costs.
