Optical module is composed of optoelectronic device, functional circuit and optical interface. The optoelectronic device consists of transmitting and receiving parts.

To put it simply, the function of the optical module is to convert the electrical signals into optical signals at the sending end, and then convert the optical signals into electrical signals at the receiving end after transmission through the optical fiber.

HTF optical module

Synopsis

The optical module is a photo electronic device for photoelectric and electro-optical conversion. The sending end of the optical module converts the electrical signal to the optical signal, and the receiving end converts the optical signal to the electrical signal. Optical modules are classified according to the packaging form, the common SFP, SFP+, SFF, gigabit Ethernet interface converter (GBIC) and so on.

Structure

The emitting part is: after the input of a certain bit rate of electrical signal is processed by the internal driver chip, the semiconductor laser (LD) or light emitting diode (LED) emits the modulated optical signal of the corresponding rate. The internal optical power automatic control circuit makes the output optical signal power remain stable.

The receiving part is: the optical signal input module of a certain bit rate is converted into an electrical signal by the optical detection diode, and the electrical signal of the corresponding bit rate is output after the preamplifier.

Application

D/T (Data Telecom): Data communication mainly includes computer video, data communication and so on. Telecom mainly includes wireless voice communication and so on.

These products are mostly used in the backbone network of optical fiber networks.

PON: Passive optical network. PON: Passive optical network. This kind of product is mainly used in the access network of optical fiber network system. In addition to transmitting fiber optic signals, the Triplex product can also output analog signals.

Optical modules are mainly divided into: GBIC, SFP, SFP+, XFP, SFF, CFP, etc. Optical interface types include SC and LC, etc. But now commonly used is SFP, SFP+, XFP, but not GBIC. The reason is that GBIC is bulky and easy to break down. The SFP, which is commonly used today, is small and inexpensive.

Type: Single mode optical module suitable for long distance transmission; Multimode optical module is suitable for short distance transmission.

Role: Optical module is used as a carrier for transmission between switch and equipment, which is more efficient and secure than transceiver.
